Tax Credit Information for Qualifying Products

The tax credit made available to homeowners as part of the "Tax Relief, Unemployment Insurance Reauthorization, and Job Creation Act of 2010", signed into law on December 17, 2010, extends certain energy efficient tax credits for qualifying windows, skylights and exterior doors for a period of one year.?

To qualify, the windows and doors must be Energy Star rated.

Key Qualifying Elements of the Program:

  • 10% of the amount paid or incurred by the taxpayer up to a maximum of $200 for windows and $500 for doors
  • Up to $500 maximum credit for energy efficient improvements for all taxable years
  • Not allowed for amounts paid for onsite preparation, assembly, installation labor, sales tax or other components
  • Covers qualified products placed in service starting January 1, 2011 and ending December 31, 2011
  • Must be for taxpayers principal residence
